Welcome to my Space Shooter Demo. This game was made as part of the GameDevHQ program and I spent around 3 months working on this. I went through two graphic overhauls, mainly because I'm not an artist and lack variety.

Controls can be viewed in-game via the controls window which can be viewed in the main menu and in-game when you press ESC to pause the game. There isn't any form of progress or setting saving in the game.

I've completed the course and will move to other projects but I plan on revisiting this project to turn it into a full-fledged game - even if it's only an hour long.

The addition and implementation of the tutorial screen is amazing. I love how it oozes personality and isn't monotonous "do this, do that". The only small nitpick on that is that there is a small spelling error on one of the tips in the HUD section 'Youre -> your'.

Well done on the tutorial! It explains everything you need to know without being overly descriptive!

The tips on the loading screen are great, but it ends too quickly to read it all and currently you only see the loading screen once. If the game gets bigger and loading screens become more prominent then it will definitely be useful though so I like the addition.

Another quality of life thing, If I'm not being too nitpicky, A "Shoot the asteroid to start" popup would be great. I'm imagining someone starting up the game and waiting for enemies to pop-up only to be like "oh silly me I'm supposed to shoot the asteroid to start the game XD"

The new visuals are absolutely stunning! The moving background as well as the addition of asteroids make the game look a lot more dynamic/lively! One little note on that though is that there is a small bug with the background. You can sometimes see when the background loops as there is a black border/seam that appears before it does.

The difficulty scaling is great! It feels challenging but not impossible! I've died and restarted quite a few times! There aren't any issues with powerups or collisions or anything this time around either and everything feels very well balanced. My deaths were completely due to my own mistakes and I love it. Ran out of ammo? sucks to suck bud, thats your fault lol. XD

The new rocket enemy is anxiety inducing and I love how it keeps me on my toes. Had a lot of fun guiding its missiles into other enemies as well. only problem is that it doesn't collide with asteroids.

Smol bugs:

-Quit to main menu doesn't work

-Enemy got stuck on an asteroid until it got reset (Colission issue)

-Enemy got stuck on right side of screen until reset (I'm guessing it spawned inside the invisible wall.)

Aaaand thats about it! I am really impressed by all the progress made and I had a lot of fun with the game! Keep it up! Good job, dude!

Hi there. Thanks again for your valuable feedback. I'll be sure to address those ASAP.

Hi again, I have fixed the issues listed here with the exception of the moving background that has stitching issues. Sometimes it's fixed other times not. Maybe in the future, I'll have this fixed.

The power-ups look very similar to each other so its hard to tell what I'm getting when I'm focusing on an enemy. What I'd suggest is a small popup when collecting a powerup.

The hud on the right is confusing when you're jumping in for the first time so labeling them would be nice. Ammo, Energy, Missiles.

Holding shift to sprint when not moving costs stamina. I feel like stamina should only be drained when moving IMO.

Avoiding enemies is easy if you're wrapping around the screen, which is great if you're out of ammo and want to get to the next wave, but if you're unlucky, the next wave will hit, you'll still be out of ammo and the enemies will just keep spawning. Eventually the whole screen will be filled with enemies. Gaining ammo on a new wave or enemies from the previous wave being deleted would be great. I've also noticed some collision problems when too many enemies are present.

Pressing escape to exit controls menu when the game is paused brings the pause menu back again but doesn't close the controls menu.

Pressing escape in the settings menu doesn't take me back to the pause menu.

I really did enjoy the game so far though, and I can't wait to see more :)

Thank you so much for your valuable feedback. I'll be sure to address all of them in the next update :)
Seems like ammo is still too scarce and will need to address that.

Hey there JVani, I just updated my game and would love for you to give it another go. Feedback and critique is appreciated.

Halfway through, I ran out of ammo and the game wouldn't give me an ammo powerup. Ammo powerups should probably appear more often than other powerups.

Hi there, Thank you for your valuable feedback. I'll be sure to address that in the next update :)

Cool, and good job with this!

I think the ammo shortage is a thing of the past.
